What better place to get a good steak than in Texas? No matter where you are in the state, you can count on a good steak, but Prosper and the surrounding areas are home to several excellent steakhouses where you can get a perfectly seasoned and cooked steak along with the sides to go with it. Here at Longo Toyota of Prosper, we’ve put together a list of the five best local steakhouses for you to try.
Rick’s Chophouse
Rick’s Chophouse in nearby McKinney is a steakhouse you’ll want to visit, whether it’s just dinner with a friend, with your spouse, or for a special occasion. This restaurant is known for preparing its steaks perfectly. But they also have fish, pork, elk, and buffalo if you like to try meats other than beef.
The menu features starters such as beef skewers. This is a flat iron steak with butternut squash, roasted cauliflower, shaved Brussels sprouts, and other veggies. Make sure to save room for the main course. The menu at Rick’s Chophouse features grass-fed filet with shaved Brussels sprouts, bacon, and spring onions.
You can also get the “Filet Carpetbagger.” This filet comes stuffed with fried jumbo shrimp and served with a loaded baked potato, carrots, and a Creole mustard hollandaise. Meanwhile, the prime rib is always a good choice. It’s short-smoked, salt-crusted, and comes with w potato puree with horseradish cream.
You can get all your favorite cuts of meat at Rick’s Chop House, and you can choose your sides with selections such as creamed spinach, baked potato, and Mexican street corn.
Knife
Knife in Plano is the work of Chef John Tesar. The James Beard-nominated and Michelin Star chef was also a Top Chef contestant not just once but twice. With his talent for finding the best meats, he has made Knife one of the top restaurants in the Plano area.
Tesar created a menu at that blends classic steakhouse dishes with a modern style. He uses born-and-raised Texas beef and prepares it using cast iron skillets and broilers to get it perfect. He also offers specialty cuts such as culotte, pork belly, Waygu skirt steak, and more. You can’t go wrong with any of the menu items, from the 44 Farms beef tartare to the bacon jam sloppy joe sliders and lamb meatballs.
The 44 Farms flat iron, bone-in rib-eye, and skirt steak are all cooked over a red oak wood fire. If you like old-school meat, make sure to try the filet mignon, New York strip, or Berkshire Heritage pork chop. Knife also has seafood selections, a variety of pasta dishes, and a great selection of sides, such as avocado fries, roasted okra, and mac and cheese.
Hoff’s Steak and Steins
Hoff’s Steak and Steins in Frisco serves premium cuts of meat with a German influence and steins of ice-cold beer. The menu features hearty appetizers such as the pretzel, which is a large, warm Bavarian pretzel with asiago dipping sauce. The wurst taste is a sampler of three different sausages with a warm baguette and mustard. Don’t fill up on these starters, though, because the main menu is fantastic.
The Hill Country Steakhaus menu options include a 12 oz. strip steak, 14 oz. rib-eye, cowboy steak, filet, and The Hoff, which is a tomahawk. The mesquite-fired steak is topped with kraeuterbutter and served with fries or German potato salad.
Randy’s Steakhouse
Randy’s Steakhouse is one of the oldest family-owned restaurants in the Frisco area. It serves its customers in the Campbell home that sits right in the historic downtown. All the meals are prepared fresh every day with high-quality Prime steaks, fresh seafood, and seasonal produce.
The main menu features Randy’s “Best From The Grill” items. Choose from filet, bone-in rib eye, and New York strip. The blackberry filet is always a good choice. It comes with a perfectly prepared blackberry wine sauce for just the right amount of sweetness. The bleu cheese stuffed filet has Randy’s bleu cheese stuffing and is topped with walnuts. Another top menu item is the beef tenderloin tournedos with Randy’s own cognac bordelaise sauce.
The menu also features specialty sides. Add to your steak with the unique lyonnaise potatoes, southwestern cream-style corn, garlic mashed potatoes, and cream osage spinach.
If you want to experience Randy’s but want a more casual atmosphere, the bar is the perfect spot. The bar menu has lots of great steak and beef options, from beef empanada to the Prime rib sandwich and beef filet nachos.
E|G Steak
E|G Steak offers a genuine churrasco celebration with each meal. It’s an independent family-owned restaurant that serves up delicious food, the best gourmet cuts of meat, and fresh salads. This modern Brazilian steakhouse features a tasting menu with two courses of service. It starts with chef-curated salads, vegetables, cured meats, and imported cheeses. These are available in the Harvest Table or a la carte. The chefs then personally present a rodizio of USDA Prime cuts of beef and pork as well as chicken and fish.
The meat selection includes picanha, the house specialty. It’s the perfect combination of textures, flavor, and marbling. The spicy picanha is marinated in a blend of spices for the perfect amount of heat. You can also get beef short ribs, filet mignon, and fraldinha. This textured and flavorful prime cut of the beef bottom sirloin is always a favorite. Other choices include Atlantic salmon, lamb chops, chicken medallions or chicken legs, and calabresa. This is a Brazilian sausage with tons of flavor.
