2025 Toyota 4Runner Seat

The year 2025 marks the introduction of the sixth-generation Toyota 4Runner. It’s a much more modern SUV than its predecessor, with a brand-new exterior and a sophisticated new interior to match. Let’s take a closer look at everything that makes the new Toyota 4Runner’s cabin so exciting.

Toyota’s Design Philosophy Dares to Be Different

The Toyota 4Runner’s interior has been significantly refreshed for 2025, but that doesn’t mean this SUV’s cabin looks like the others in its crowded segment. While many auto manufacturers favor touch-screen controls, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner balances its infotainment display with dials, buttons, and switches.

There are several practical reasons why Toyota bucked the trend and persisted with manual controls. Its designers feel these physical controls will be much easier to operate if the 4Runner’s bouncing around off-road terrains. They also allow you to control the vehicle faster than screens, which require moving through menus to find the right setting. In maintaining manual controls, Toyota also helps satisfy its long-term fans and ensures the new 4Runner’s cabin stands out.

Comfort and Practicality: Designed for Everyday Use

Toyota considered what works in the Tacoma and brought it to its latest 4Runner. The dashboard and infotainment display are virtually the same, allowing you to easily see and manage key controls when you’re on the move.

Optional Third-Row Seating

The major difference between the two Toyota models is that only the 4Runner lets you add a third row of seating on selected trims. This increases the 4Runner’s capacity from five to seven people. Of course, that third row will never be as spacious as the second, but it’s an excellent option if you’ve got a large family with small kids. You’ll find 56 cubic feet of passenger space in the first row, 44 in the middle, and 36 in the rear.

Plenty of Storage Space

Keeping a spacious SUV organized can be challenging, especially if you have seven people on board, but Toyota helps you out with a selection of practical storage bins. The second and third rows can fold down to increase cargo space beyond the standard 12 cubic feet.

Advanced Technology and Features

Tech lovers who thumbed their nose at previous 4Runner models may get on board in 2025 with this new SUV’s high-tech features.

Infotainment Features

The 2025 4Runner has Toyota’s responsive new infotainment system. The standard infotainment display is still 8 inches, but you can choose a much larger 14-inch screen for the first time. Toyota has replaced the traditional analog instrument cluster with a chic new digital display. The standard 4Runner digital cluster measures 7 inches, but you can upgrade to a 12.3-inch display.

Toyota helps you cut the cord, making Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless for the first time. USB-C ports are standard in the front, but if you’d prefer to leave your cable at home, you can opt for a wireless Qi smartphone charging pad. You can also add extra USB-C ports in the back for your rear passengers’ devices.

A digital key system is also new this model year. Simply download Toyota’s app to use your smartphone to lock, unlock, and start your 4Runner.

Safety Features

This year, Toyota upgraded the 4Runner’s safety suite from Safety Sense P to Safety Sense 3.0. These enhancements assist you while you’re in the driver’s seat so that you and your loved ones can arrive at your destination safely.

There are some real improvements here. Instead of just providing lane departure alert, which only warned drivers they were drifting, Toyota added Lane Tracing Assist, which actively keeps drivers in their lane. There’s also a new Road Sign Assist feature, which recalls speed limits and other key information. Proactive Driving Assist helps you maintain a safe distance from other vehicles by gently adjusting your steering and braking. Toyota has also brought back classic features such as the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic high beams for improved visibility at night.

Off-Road-Geared Trims With Unique Enhancements

The Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter have several interior features that match their off-road-ready exteriors.
A drive mode dial and button bar beneath the gearstick let you adjust the vehicle’s performance for different terrains and driving styles. With a twist of the dial, you can change between different modes, including rock crawling and towing.
One of the most appealing buttons controls the new Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism. Press it to disengage the stabilizer bar and improve the front suspension’s wheel articulation. This helps your wheels keep in contact with the ground when you’re moving over rocky or uneven terrain. Additional buttons manage the locking differential and multiple camera views for improved visibility on narrow trails and hills.

If you’re a serious off-roader, you’ll love the onboard air compressor that’s exclusive to the Trailhunter trim. Hidden in the cargo area, you can use this feature to pump up your tires after airing them down to improve traction on the trails. The Trailhunter also gets interior controls for turning on its LED fog lights and a front-mounted light bar for improved visibility when the sun goes down.
