The Toyota Tundra offers an excellent choice of engines and cargo beds and an extensive range of infotainment tech, making it one of the top full-sized pickup class vehicles around. For 2025, the Tundra is breaking new ground for owners on the job site, on the road, or off the beaten track. If you’re thinking of buying a new Tundra, you should familiarize yourself with the various cab configurations and trim options first. Our experts here at Longo Toyota of Prosper have put together this guide to help you make your choice.
Toyota Tundra Overview and Trims
Before looking at the available trims, we need to cover the various engine, cab, and cargo bed options, as they can differ depending on the trim. You’ll want to have an idea of which engine and cargo bed suit your needs before you start looking at your trim options.
The Toyota Tundra has seven trims: the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, TRD Pro, and Capstone, with three V-6 engines to choose from. The base V-6 is a 358-horsepower unit that offers a solid starting point and can cope with most driving situations. Some higher trims offer an upgraded 389-horsepower version of this engine. The most potent powertrain on offer is a hybrid V-6 that delivers 437 horsepower, making it an ideal choice if you want to push the Tundra’s towing and hauling limits.
In addition, the Tundra is available with a Double cab or a Crew cab. Both cabs have a second row of seats, but the rear row in the Double cab is more compact than in the Crew cab. The legroom in the Double cab is similar to what you’d find in a compact car, whereas the Crew cab offers more adult-friendly legroom measurements. There are three cargo bed options: the long bed measures 8 feet 1 inch in length, the mid-length bed is 6 feet 6 inches, and the short bed is 5 feet 6 inches. The longest bed is only available with the Double cab.
Tundra SR
The SR trim comes with the standard V-6 engine. You can fit it out with the Double cab and the long or mid-length bed, or the Crew cab with the short bed. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, with four-wheel drive (4WD) available for an extra $3,000.
Inside the cabin, the Tundra SR boasts cloth upholstery, an 8-inch infotainment screen, and a six-speaker stereo, or a nine-speaker version if you opt for the Crew cab. Connectivity options include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and USB ports. There’s also a standard navigation system and a 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster so you can keep on top of your vehicle’s performance. The Tundra offers a wide range of safety features, including forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and traffic sign recognition.
One of the optional highlights is the Tow package, which adds a seven-pin connector on a harness and a class IV tow hitch.
SR5
The SR5 trim allows you to pair the Double cab with the long or mid-sized bed, or you can choose the Crew cab with the short or mid-sized bed. All Double-cab configurations come with standard 4WD, but it remains an optional upgrade with the Crew cab. Additional features in this trim include the stronger gas-powered V-6 engine, tow and haul driving modes, and alloy wheels. You also get a class IV hitch, a trailer brake, and power-adjustable front seats. If your SR5 has 4WD, you get the off-road package, which includes skid plates, an off-roading suspension, and crawl control.
Limited
In the Limited trim, you can choose to pair the Crew cab with the short or mid-length bed. Although this trim sticks with the 389-horsepower gas-powered engine in its standard powertrain, it’s the first trim with the option to upgrade to the 437-horsepower hybrid V-6. Other new features include synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats. A larger 14-inch infotainment screen is included, together with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, automatic climate control, and a power tailgate.
Tundra Platinum
The Platinum offers the same cargo bed and cab configurations as the Limited. Additional features in this trim are leather upholstery, massaging front seats, wireless device charging, and a 12-speaker stereo.
1794 Edition
This trim offers the same cab and bed configurations as the previous two. Like in the Platinum, you can upgrade to the hybrid powertrain or stick with the standard 389-horsepower gas-powered engine. New features in this trim include 20-inch wheels and a walnut interior trim.
TRD Pro
This trim is one for off-road enthusiasts, and it’s only available with the Crew cab and short bed. The TRD Pro is ready to tackle the toughest trails with standard 4WD, a hybrid powertrain, a front stabilizer bar, fox shocks, and an electronic locking rear differential. The multi-terrain cameras allow you to monitor and avoid obstacles on your expedition.
Capstone
The Capstone also has the hybrid powertrain with 4WD, and it’s only offered with the Crew cab and short bed. It comes with big 22-inch wheels, power-retractable running boards, and a head-up display.
